Useless Commission

All the news reports claim that the state is having trouble balancing the budget. I have contacted several members of the house with a good suggestion: eliminate the Turnpike Commission.

They have too much money and even use it to hire lobbyists. This is such a waste of tax payer money. The turnpike could be turned over to PennDOT, which is already set up to handle roads. PennDOT’s cost per mile to build and maintain roads is consistently lower than the Turnpike Commission’s.

When I received a notice with my registration renewal that said I would be subject to license suspension for unpaid tolls, I saw red. I have not used the turnpike for several years because of the crazy tolls and coercion to use Easy Pass.

The Turnpike Commission was started to repay heavy contributors for political elections. Members are paid an exorbitant salary, which I am sure would go a long way to balancing the budget.
