The property tax should be totally eliminated. Take the recent assessment at AK Steel. Two licensed appraisers came up with a difference of $10 million on evaluations of the same property. Then a judge who knows nothing about property tax makes a decision. What a way to run government.

Butler County has not had a reassessment since 1968. The land in southern Butler County is assessed about the same as the land in northern Butler County, yet land in southern Butler County can be sold for 50 to 100 times more than land in northern Butler County.

County Commissioner Kim Geyer and her family owns considerable acreage in southern Butler County. I wonder if she would be spending tax dollars so freely if her tax bill was 50 to 100 times more for her land holdings.

If we continue to have the property tax, there has to be a reassessment.
