Dischman sentenced for parole violation

An East Butler woman, who allegedly overdosed on heroin while pregnant days after being released from prison was resentenced in Butler County Court on Friday to six months in the county jail for violating her parole.

Kasey R. Dischman, 30, admitted to using heroin and overdosing, violating her parole conditions, and county Judge William Shaffer revoked her parole and recommitted her to the Butler County Prison for the balance of the unexpired term, six months.

Dischman was initially sentenced to six to 12 months in the county facility and 36 months probation on Dec. 20 following a guilty plea to retail theft.

She was held in the county facility until June 15, when she was released after serving the minimum term. The allegations are that just over a week later, on June 23, she overdosed.

Prosecution and defense attorneys from both sides did not mention the underlying issue of that overdose or the new criminal charge to stem from it — a felony count of aggravated assault of an unborn child under the Crimes Against the Unborn Child Act. Dischman was 7-months pregnant at the time of the overdose, causing her to undergo a cesarean section and deliver the child prematurely.
