The free Outdoor Discovery series at Alameda Park, conducted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, will present “AL-Mazing Magic” today and “Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!” on July 20. Programs are at 6:30 p.m. in the Carousel Shelter. Call 724-284-5383.

Succop Nature Park, 185 W. Airport Road, Penn Township, has nature walks at 9 a.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Call 412-963-6100 or visit www.aswp.org.

Nautical Nature, the pontoon boat at Moraine State Park, operates cruises on Lake Arthur at 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. For reservations, call 724-368-9185.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will host the Celebrate the Bloom! Summer Festival from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 29. Call 724-794-6011. Jennings is open regularly 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset.

Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township will be host a “Superheroes Hike” at 10 a.m. Friday (meet at Sunken Garden Trailhead, South Shore). “Bats in Action” is at 8 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Call 724-368-3612 or 724-368-8811.

REGION

McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, off Route 422, will have a tree identification hike at 4 p.m. July 21. The mill is open 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily except closed Mondays. Tours are available at 1 and 2 p.m. Call 724-368-8811 or 724-368-3612.
