BlueSox bow to Kings on road

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Butler BlueSox found themselves on the ropes early in Wednesday’s Prospect League baseball game against host Champion City.

The Kings plated four runs in the bottom of the first inning and went on to post a 16-2 win, out-hitting the Sox 17-3.

Making his first appearance on the mound in a week, Zach Henderson started for Butler, but lasted just one inning. The Kings tallied four runs (two earned) on four hits off of the southpaw.

Champion City (11-8) then tagged Butler relievers Stefan Mrkonja and Ryann Gray for a combined 11 runs over the next six innings.

Kings’ first baseman Alexander Garland led the way with a 4-for-5 night, including three doubles and three RBI.

Brad Wilson frustrated Butler’s lineup, surrendering just a pair of runs on two hits in seven innings pitched to earn the win.

Butler (8-11) hosts Chillicothe tonight. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Kelly Automotive Park.

The BlueSox have dropped three straight games and are winless against Champion City this season. Butler also fell into last place in the Eastern Division.
