Man arrested after crash

Police arrested the driver of a Honda sedan who they say was under the influence when he hit a fire hydrant Wednesday afternoon.

BUTLER TWP — Township police arrested a man suspected of driving under the influence after his car crashed into a fire hydrant this afternoon.

The driver of a Honda sedan hit a hydrant on the east side of North Main Street Extension in front of North Main Street Church of God around 4:10 p.m., police said.

No other vehicles were involved. The hydrant was damaged, but not leaking water.

A passenger in the car, also a man, was checked by Butler EMS but was not injured.

The Butler City and Mercer Road fire departments responded to the call.
