Accused killer's court hearing delayed

A preliminary hearing for a Butler Township man accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend and burning her body has been delayed because his attorney needs more time to prepare his case.

Ishemer D. Ramsey, 21, of Lyndora appeared before District Judge William Fullerton in the Butler County courthouse for a hearing scheduled for this morning.Moments earlier, one of Ramsey's co-defendants, James E. Howard-George, 23, of Butler, also made a brief, separate appearance. But he promptly gave up his right to a hearing and waived his case to court.The hearing for a third defendant, Joshua W. Bowser, 21, of Lyndora, also was continued.Ramsey is accused of fatally shooing Melissa Barto, 26, of Butler during an argument in his car June 8. He and Howard-George later allegedly disposed of the body after setting it on fire.Howard-George and Bowser are charged with helping Ramsey cover up the crime.All three defendants remain in the Butler County Prison.New hearing dates for Ramsey and Bowser were not immediately scheduled.
