Butler company doesn't get state permit

A Butler-based company that was vying for a permit to grow and process medical marijuana in Pennsylvania was not one of the two companies to receive the go-ahead from state officials on Tuesday.

Permits were issued to Pure Penn LLC in McKeesport, Allegheny County, and AGRiMED Industries of PA LLC in Carmichaels, Greene County.

The announcement from John Collins, the director of the state’s Office of Medical Marijuana, came alongside a broader update on the state’s medical marijuana program.

It left Cresco Yeltrah, a medical marijuana company established by the Hartley family, on the outside looking in. The company had already started site work on a 28,500-square-foot building on a 6-acre parcel in Pullman Center Business Park on Hollywood Drive in Butler. The Hartley’s partnered with Chicago-based Cresco Labs and Denver-based Dever Relief Consulting on the project.
