10:36 p.m. Wednesday — Donald E. Gibler, 26, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Sarah Hogan, during a domestic dispute at his apartment on South Street. He is accused of punching the victim in the face, causing minor injuries.

Gibler was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.

June 7 — Gabrielle E. Dorsch, 23, of Valencia was charged with being more than two times the legal limit for alcohol in connection with a near wreck this month at Route 228 and Warrendale Road.

Police said they stopped Dorsch about 1 a.m. June 1 after she made a wide turn and almost hit an embankment. She smelled of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated, according to a police report.

Dorsch was taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry for a blood test after failing field sobriety tests. Toxicology reports showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.198 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

In addition to driving under the influence, she is charged with making an improper turn, disregarding traffic lights and careless driving.

10:12 p.m. June 3 — Derek J. Smith, 52, of Mars was arrested for drunken driving after he was stopped for speeding on Route 228.

Police said they stopped Smith for traveling 83 mph in a 50 mph zone. He reeked of alcohol, according to a police report, and appeared impaired.

He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests. Results of a blood test at UPMC Passavant Cranberry showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.160 percent.

Smith is charged with DUI, speeding and driving an unregistered vehicle.

3:09 a.m. Tuesday — Daniel J. McCall-Bellis, 30, of Butler was allegedly caught with a marijuana pipe following a traffic stop at North Main and West Penn streets. He is charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

June 6 — Benjamin Lee Cahall, 35, of Butler was charged with stealing $500 worth of steel and other metal items from a home in the 700 block of Oneida Valley Road in Center Township.

Cahall is accused of taking the property May 23. He later took the items, valued at $500, to a local salvage yard, according to court documents.

The homeowners’ trail camera, which caught images of the suspected thief and his vehicle, helped police solve the crime.

Cahall is charged with theft, receiving stolen property and defiant trespass.

June 6 — Police charged Steven J. Benson, 21, of Center Township with misdemeanor drug possession in connection with a 2015 DUI checkpoint in Center Township.

Troopers manning the detail about 1:15 a.m. Sept. 6, 2015, stopped the defendant’s car on Route 8 near Unionville Road. Police said they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A search of the car, according to court documents, turned up a cylinder containing marijuana, a marijuana grinder and two smoking pipes.

Benson is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

12:45 a.m. May 28 — Walter M. Wojichowski III, 38, of Harmony was arrested for suspected drunken driving at Greenwood Drive and New Castle Road in Butler Township. He was pulled over, police said, for not using a left turn signal and a lighting violation.

When troopers got to the pickup truck, according to court documents, they smelled a “strong odor of alcohol and Wojichowski appeared intoxicated. He told police that he had two beers.

He subsequently failed field sobriety tests. During the tests, documents said, he admitted having five beers.

A breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.251 percent, or more than three times the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit for alcohol.

Wojichowski was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license, careless driving, reckless driving, failing to use turn signals and driving with a burned out brake light.

He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.
