Lillian and John Burkert

John and Lillian Burkert of Butler celebrated 60 years of marriage with a family dinner at their daughter’s home in Zelienople.

Burkert married the former Lillian Rice on June 1, 1957, at Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Evans City.

They have five children, Sherry McGahan of Bristol, R.I.; Cindy Sye of Zelienople; Jeff Burkert of Chicora; Todd Burkert of Crown Point, Ind.; and Beth Van Buren of Butler.

They also have 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

Burkert retired from International Mill Services, where he worked as an engineer.

Mrs. Burkert retired from Paragon Trade Brands where she was a human resources secretary.
