Firefighters responded to a house explosion this morning at 1:15 a.m.

Firefighters from the Butler Bureau of Fire responded to an overnight house explosion at 111 South St.

According to the department, firefighters received a call at 1:15 a.m. regarding a house that exploded. When firefighters arrived on scene, the structure was fully engulfed in flames and the basement's back wall and the back wall on the first floor were blown out.

The state police fire marshal arrived on scene and the investigation is ongoing. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
