[naviga:h3]Iditarod sled race loses major backer[/naviga:h3]

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The world’s most famous sled dog race has lost a major backer, and Alaska race officials are blaming animal rights organizations for pressuring corporate sponsors outside the state like Wells Fargo with “manipulative information” about the treatment of the dogs.

Wells Fargo spokesman David Kennedy said the banking institution’s investment in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race has declined since 2010. He said he could not discuss specific reasons for the San Francisco-based bank dropping the sponsorship altogether.

[naviga:h3]Air Force receiver not graduated yet[/naviga:h3]

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — The Air Force Academy says wide receiver Jalen Robinette didn’t graduate with his class after the cadet’s qualifications were called into question.

The ceremony took place Wednesday, but Robinette’s graduation and commissioning were held up for further evaluation, the academy said in a statement. The academy said the decision didn’t involve criminal wrongdoing and was unrelated to Robinette’s pro football pursuits.
