Hindman helps Rockets advance

Cheyenne Hindman tossed a four-hitter as the Slippery Rock High softball team advanced in the District 10 4A playoffs with a 5-2 win over Fort LeBoeuf Saturday afternoon in Erie.

The Rockets (14-6) will play Region 7 champion General McLane (14-3) at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Penn State Behrend.

Brynn Horner and Hannah Wilson each singled twice for Slippery Rock.

Each also had a RBI.

Hindman and Julia Hart also pitched in with RBI singles.

The Grove City High baseball team scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning on an error to beat Corry 2-1 Saturday afternoon and advance in the District 10 4A playoffs.

The Eagles (10-10) will play Harbor Creek at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ainsworth Field in Erie.

Nick Davies scored the winning run after leading off the eighth with a single.

Carter Chinn got the win in relief for Grove City.

Kyle Shingledecker got the start and went seven strong innings, striking out five.
