Suspected drug dealer arrested

Shayna M. McDowell

A woman wanted for dealing drugs in Butler was arrested by state police and booked into Butler County Prison Friday afternoon.

Shayna M. McDowell, 31, of Butler had two warrants out for her arrest — both relating to drug activity.

McDowell was one of six suspected drug dealers for whom the Butler County Drug Task Force and Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office's Bureau of Narcotics obtained arrest warrants in January.

The county drug task force said McDowell on July 6, 2016, sold an informant heroin for $40 at Butler Memorial Park, according to court documents.

State police in February obtained a warrant for McDowell in connection with an investigation dating back to September of 2015. Police allege that she had 11 stamp bags on heroin hidden in her bra when she was arrested at an apartment building on West Jefferson Street in the city that was under police surveillance for drug activity.

She had been free on bail since September and has multiple criminal cases pending in county court including felony drug possession in 2013 and endangering the welfare of children in 2016, from an incident where police say she fell asleep while baby-sitting an infant boy.

She also has past multiple convictions for possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia in 2005, 2006 and 2015 and DUI in 2010.
