Butler County's great daily newspaper

Government greed

If Pennsylvania was a business, it would have gone bankrupt a long time ago. Fortunately, they have the state residents to squeeze dry.

Now rural residents are told we will pay $25 a year for the state police; not to be outdone, the county wants $5 per vehicle, which means $10 since I have two. This is on top of the money I send the volunteer fire department every year and then my local ambulance service.

Finally, the move is on to get rid of the state liquor monopoly, which should have been done years ago. Next we need to cut the legislature in half and do away with the per diem with no accountability. These leeches are sucking the state dry.

A perfect example is the state legislator convicted of corruption in a federal court who still thinks he should receive his $20,000 per month pension from the state. There are people in this state who work full time and do not earn that in a year.
