In Brief

BUTLER TWP — Customers at Giant Eagle in Moraine Pointe Plaza could soon be served alcohol, should the company be successful in transferring a liquor license from Summit Township to the township grocery store.

As part of that process officials are required to hold a public hearing on the transfer. Township commissioners voted 4-0 on Monday to set the hearing at 7 p.m., June 19, at the municipal building.

At the meeting, members of the public will have a chance to present testimony and give public comment on the issue.

The license transfer will allow sales of wine and beer at the store, and township manager Ed Kirkwood said it would also allow Giant Eagle to serve of-age customers two beers per day at the store.
