Becker tosses shutout for Rockets

Gunner Becker pitched a 5-hit shutout as Slippery Rock's baseball team defeated Conneaut Area, 4-0 on Wednesday.

Becker struck out three and walked none.

Danny Williams hit a solo home run for the Rockets (10-2, 7-1).

Jake Herrit struck out six and allowed one run on three hits in five innings to earn the win on the mound.

Butler fell to Class AA powerhouse Beaver County Christian by a score of 3-1.

The Golden Tornado received 18 kills from Nash Bryan, 25 assists from Tyler Rankin and two blocks from Ben Fiorina.

Butler (8-6) fell by scores of 19-25, 22-25, 25-15 and 19-25.

CW North Catholic 16, Freeport 6 — Corey Schrecengost scored three goals for the Yellowjackets (8-5), who had their five-game winning streak snapped Tuesday.
