ALTOONA — Chelsea Kaufman of Butler received the 2017 Penn State Altoona, Altoona College Business Student Award.

She was recognized as a business student demonstrating qualities of character, scholarship, leadership and citizenship.

KUTZTOWN — Brittany Larkin of Cranberry Township received a Gold Chambliss Student Academic Achievement Award from Kutztown University. It is the highest honor awarded by the university.

Larkin is a special education/visual impairment major. She received the award for her successfully completed research projects.

Larkin has conducted original research on cortical visual impairment and presented “Effective Practices for Working with Students Who Have Cortical Visual Impairments” at the National Council for Exceptional Children Conference.

She has served as a student representative with the Pennsylvania Association for Education and Rehabilitation and the National Division on Visual Impairments.

Her research and articles have been published in Visual Impairment and Deaf-Blind Quarterly, an invitation-only publication on visual impairment studies.

Larkin has given presentations on vision loss, helped organize a Dine in the Dark event in Reading and tutored underclassmen in Kutztown University’s vision program.

She has been named to the dean’s list every semester since 2014.

Larkin is a graduate of Seneca Valley High School.

BATON ROUGE, La. — Sarah Brasili of Saxonburg and Morgan Siebka of Slippery Rock were initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Brasili was initiated at University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

Siebka was initiated at Florida Southern College.
