SLIPPERY ROCK — The annual Slippery Rock University spring football game takes place at 6 p.m. today at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

Retired SRU coach George Mihalik and fellow Rock football legend Jerry Bejbl will serve as honorary coaches for the game.

Moniteau graduate gets Penn honors

Moniteau graduate and University of Pennsylvania freshman Maura Kimmel has been named Penn’s Female Rookie Athlete of the Year.

Kimmel broke the Quakers’ indoor shot put record this year at 15.19 meters and is seven inches away from breaking the outdoor mark as well,

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University women’s tennis standout Lacey Cohen has been named PSAC West Freshman of the Year.

Cohen becomes the third athlete in Rock history receive this honor and the first since Laura Handy in 2007. She was 13-13 in singles this year, 16-11 in doubles, 4-2 in conference play in both.
