[naviga:h2]Aquaettes swim this weekend[/naviga:h2]

BUTLER TWP — The Butler High School Aquaettes will present “Synch into High School” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the senior high pool.

The synchronized swimming team features 20 girls ranging from seventh to 12th grade along with three “Aquastuds” who perform several lifts and help with other routines.

Tickets are $6 for students and $8 for adults and will be available at the door.

[naviga:h2]High school hosts art show[/naviga:h2]

ADAMS TWP — Mars High School will host its annual Coffeehouse Gallery Art Showcase from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

The event, a juried art show, will feature paintings, ceramics, sculpture and drawings created by students in seventh through 12th grades. Festivities will include entertainment and refreshments.

In addition, one student will be selected as the winner of the annual Robinson Purchase Prize, sponsored by Robinson Family Industries. The student’s work will be framed and displayed in the lobby of the high school’s auditorium.

[naviga:h2]Comtra stages ‘Cabaret’[/naviga:h2]

CRANBERRY TWP — Comtra Theater, 20540 Route 19, presents the musical “Cabaret” next month.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays from May 5 to 20.

Set in a nightclub as the 1920s draw to a close, “Cabaret” explores the dark, heady and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich.

[naviga:h2]Recital series established[/naviga:h2]

Tanya Satteson, concertmistress of the Butler County Symphony Orchestra since 2013, has announced the establishment of the Butler County Recital Series.

The organization will share classical solo and chamber repertoire with the community through regular performances at Covenant Presbyterian Church.

The season will consist of two concerts, both of which will feature Satteson on violin, and Nancy DeSalvo on piano. Satteson and DeSalvo are both graduates of the Cleveland Institute of Music.

The premiere will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 16. Tickets are available at www.butlercountyrecitalseries.org.

[naviga:h2]Bach Society to perform[/naviga:h2]

The Bach Society, a community chorus, will have its spring concerts “Spirited and Inspired” at 7:30 p.m. May 5 and 6.

The May 5 concert will be at Center Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock and the May 6 concert will be at Tower Presbyterian Church in Grove City.

Admission is free.

RIMERSBURG — The Union High School jazz band, percussion ensemble and elementary band will perform their annual spring concert on at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Union High School gym, 354 Baker St.

The jazz band is directed by Lisa Hummel, the percussion ensemble by Robert Heichel, and the elementary band by David Hepler. Admission is free.

[naviga:h2]Jennings plans programs[/naviga:h2]

BRADY TWP — Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, will host two new programs in May.

A wildflower walk is planned for 2 to 4 p.m. May 14.

“Nature Detectives: The Case of the Wiggly Worms” is for families to become “nature detectives” from 2 to 4 p.m. May 21.

[naviga:h2]ARCA offers chamber music[/naviga:h2]

FOXBURG — Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts will host the Pittsburgh Symphony Chamber Players at 2 p.m. May 7 at Lincoln Hall, 42 S. Palmer St.

The program will feature works by Dvorak, Mahler and Schumann Piano Quintet.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $5 for students.
