Comedians fight Alzheimer's at Art Center

Butler will host comedians from MTV, Saturday Night Live and ComedyTimeTV from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St.

Robert Punchur, the New York City comedian and Butler native headlining the show, said there will be visual artists, poets, acoustic music, comedy and a rock concert.

David Beck, singer-songwriter for String Machine, and Ian Compton, a New York musician and another Butler native, were responsible for selecting and organizing the musicians.

About 30 volunteer performers, musicians and artists are participating.

The event is family-friendly until 8 p.m. when the focus shifts to the comedy performance, said Punchur. Anyone younger than 21 will require parental approval to watch the comedy portion.

Proceeds from this Artists Against Alzheimer's show will go to the Alzheimer's Association.

Tickets are $10 at the door. Businesses have donated goods and services, so there will be baskets raffled.

Participating visual artists also have agreed to raffle some artwork in support of the cause.
