Mayoral debate set for 6 p.m.
The four candidates running to be Butler’s next mayor will debate at 6 p.m. today at the Grand Ballroom, 201 S. Main St.
The event is free and open to the public. It will be covered by the Butler Eagle, broadcast live by Butler Radio Network and shown on Armstrong Cable Channel 10.
Three Republicans — Michael Walter, Benjamin Smith and incumbent Tom Donaldson — and Democrat Jamie Lee Goehring will be on the debate stage.
The event is being sponsored and hosted by the Butler Eagle and Butler Downtown. It will be moderated by Ron Vodenichar, the newspaper’s general manager and publisher.
The three GOP candidates will face one another in a primary May 16. The winner will face Goehring in the general election Nov. 7.
