Rotz, Mars top Armstrong

KC's Thompson flips no-hitter

Anthony Michalski and Jack Anderson each homered and Dylan Rotz pitched seven strong innings as the Mars baseball team picked up a big section win over Armstrong, 10-4, Monday afternoon.

Michalski also had a pair of singles and drove in two.

Anderson hit a two-run homer and also drove in another run for the Planets (7-4, 6-1).

Karns City 10, Forest Area 0 — Jimmy Thompson tossed a six-inning no-hitter, striking out 11 as the Gremlins rolled.

Tyler Yough collected two hits and drove in two runs and Marcus Lantz also had a pair of RBI for Karns City (6-4).

Dylan Dingel got the win, striking out seven while not walking a batter in six innings.

Ricky Mineo got the save, striking out two in the seventh for Slippery Rock (8-2).

Butler 9, Hempfield 2 — The Golden Tornado erupted for seven runs in the top of the sixth inning in this non-section road win.

Brandon Fleeger threw five shutout innings for the victory, striking out six and walking one.

Jacob Slomers, Cade Negley and Ryan Lynn each had two singles for Butler (8-4), which has won five straight.

Butler closed out the season with a 5-0 sweep of Armstrong.

Matt McMaster and the doubles tandem of Trevor Bell and Tyler Bell each recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins for the Golden Tornado (7-5).

All three sets between Aldstadt and Sharon's Colin Grago went to a tiebreaker with Aldstadt winning the decisive third set 7-6 (12-10).
