Fireworks celebration postponed

WORTH TWP — Those wanting to see the annual fireworks show at Cooper’s Lake may want to rethink their plans.

The LionFire festival and fireworks show planned for Memorial Day weekend has been postponed, according to an email from Cooper’s Lake to customers sent Monday.

“We are truly upset for our customers and the event itself,” the email states. “At this time, we are unsure of when the event will be rescheduled to.”

The LionFire Festival, hosted by Pittsburgh-based LionHeart Event Group, was set to replace Pyrofest as the premier Memorial Day fireworks show after Pyrofest announced on its website in November it would not return for this year’s festivities.

Cooper’s Lake Campgrounds will be open to anyone who still wishes to camp over the holiday weekend.

Several family style activities are in the works for Saturday including a children’s fair, a free BBQ dinner in the evening and a bonfire.

A full list of activities will be available soon.

Cooper’s Lake however is offering refunds for those who do not wish to camp there under these circumstances.
