Dog bite sends girl to hospital

BRADY TWP — A 3-year-old girl was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital after a dog bit her in the face Friday morning.

Butler state police report the girl, whose name and residence were unavailable, was outside with her mother, who was visiting a friend on Lindey Road when she walked up to a chained dog.

Police report the dog bit the girl after she briefly pet it around 10:30 a.m.

The girl was taken by Butler Ambulance to the Unionville fire station in Center Township to meet a medical helicopter, which flew her to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC for treatment.

Police said they cited Daniel Oliver, the dog's owner who was not home at 270 Lindey Road when the incident occurred, for not keeping the dog's rabies vaccination or licensing current.

Oliver could not be reached for comment.
