Lane restrictions scheduled on I-79

Motorists should expect traffic congestion as work on Interstate 79 continues next week, with lane restrictions scheduled.

The I-79 northbound right shoulder will close next week at mile marker 85, as well as the left shoulder at the adjacent Route 19 north on ramp to I-79 north for drainage work during daylight hours. The ramp will remain open.

Flaggers will be in place to control alternating traffic on North Boundary Road under I-79 for bridge work.

Nighttime short-term lane restrictions will continue next week for bridge repairs nightly between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. on I-79 northbound and southbound between Exit 76 (Route 228 Cranberry) and Exit 88 (Little Creek Road) in Cranberry and Jackson townships. Exceptions include I-79 northbound, Friday after 9 p.m., and I-79 southbound, Sunday after 9 p.m. I-79 will open every morning for rush hour traffic.

No long-term lane restrictions are scheduled for the next two weeks.

Work on I-79 includes milling, patching, and paving for about 10 miles between Exit 76 and Exit 88.

This $16.7 million Interstate resurfacing project is expected to be completed by the end of October and is being done by Lindy Paving.
