Monday — James A. Cogley, 38, was arraigned on felony and misdemeanor drug charges stemming from his arrest on a state parole warrant Jan. 19 at his home on Rural Drive.

Police said they searched Cogley and found two Suboxone strips in his wallet. Additionally, they found him carrying $552 in currency, according to court documents.

A corrections officer, who was not identified in documents, also told police during the investigation that he saw what he believed was Cogley “doing a hand to hand (drug) transaction” with the passenger of a sport utility vehicle.

Monday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for a Bedford County teenager accused of stealing a sport utility vehicle in February after escaping from Summit Academy on Herman Road in Summit Township.

The suspect, 18-year-old Donald J. Chrisko of New Paris, allegedly fled the reform school Feb. 2 along with two other students, both boys, who were not identified in court documents.

One of the boys eventually turned himself in, police said, when he learned that Chrisko and the other student planned to steal a vehicle.

The defendant and his underage accomplice are accused of driving off in a 2011 Jeep Cherokee that they found in the driveway of the owner’s home.

Authorities on Feb. 21 recovered the stolen Jeep hundreds of miles away at a home in Perry County. State police in Perry County subsequently arrested the boy who escaped with Chrisko when they saw him come out of the house, documents said.

The owner of that home told investigators that her son was with the boy and Chrisko earlier that day, but that her son “had no knowledge the vehicle was stolen,” according to a police affidavit.

The defendant’s alleged accomplice admitted driving the vehicle to the home in Perry County “because he needed a place to stay.” The youth also acknowledged that Chrisko was with him earlier that day but that he no longer knew the defendant’s whereabouts.

Chrisko is charged with felony counts of theft and conspiracy to commit theft, and a misdemeanor charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle.

The charges in Butler County juvenile court against the boy that Chrisko was with were not immediately known.

Police said Hood drove the 2010 Honda Accord to Myrtle Street in Emlenton, where the owner happened upon it while walking home from the trail parking lot. The owner also saw the defendant near the car and questioned him about it.

Hood eventually confessed to troopers, according to court documents.

He was arraigned on felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property, and a misdemeanor charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle. He was placed in the Venango County Jail on $25,000 cash bail following arraignment.
