Swarmer's 5 hits key Knoch victory

Dylan Swarmer went 5-for-5 with a double and triple to lead Knoch’s 18-hit attack in a 12-6 baseball win over host Burrell Tuesday afternoon.

Andy Pipes was 3-for-5 with two doubles and a triple and Brandon Kowalski added three hits for the Knights (6-2), who scored six runs in the top of the first inning.

Tyler Yough continued his strong season with a single, double and two runs batted in for KC (4-4).

Knoch pitcher Erin Luffy had 11 strikeouts against just one walk and allowed just three hits in a 13-0 victory over Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic at Graham Park.

Madison Holben hit a home run as part of a 14-hit attack for the Knights (10-1), who scored six runs in the third inning.

Adrienne Nardone shouldered the loss for the Trojanettes (4-3).

Slippery Rock 10, West Middlesex 0 — Julianna Hutchinson and Madalyn Senge both singled three times for the Rockets.

Cheyenne Hindman limited the Big Red to just three hits while striking out three in five innings.

Deer Lakes 16, Butler 8 — Julia Gibson smacked a 2-run home run and added a double for Butler (0-8).

Faith Hansotte added a single and double and Shelby Barnette had a single and two runs batted in.

Girls Lacrosse

Cameron Lindsay scored five goals and Mayce Wonderling added four as Freeport defeated Penn Trafford, 15-7.

Chrissy Conklin netted three goals for the Yellowjackets while Hannah Bowman added two and Kaeley Lentz one. Cassie Suran had 20 saves in goal.

Boys Tennis

Butler toppled Knoch 4-1, with the Golden Tornado earning both doubles wins thanks to the tandems of Trevor Bell/Tyler Bell and Jake Zangas/Reed Krueger.

Patrick Smith accounted for Knoch’s lone victory at No. 2 singles.
