Butler bats come alive in 7-1 victory

Knoch's Celia Knappenberger hits an RBI single to help the Knights to a 10-0 win over Highlands in softball action Thursday at Laura Doerr Park.

The Butler baseball team broke out of its offensive slump, pounding out 12 hits on the way to a 7-1 road win over Armstrong Thursday afternoon.

Dallas Hays had three hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs and Adam Hohn singled and tripled and drove in a pair for the Golden Tornado (4-4).

Garrett Banner got the win, scattering three hits in seven innings.

Lee DeMatteis got the win, striking out five in four innings.

Softball

Gabby Stewart had a day.

Stewart homered twice and drove in nine runs as Moniteau downed Karns City, 15-0.

Stewart also singled twice.

Cortney Claypoole went 5-for-5 with three RBI for the Warriors (5-0).

Kennedy DeMatteis tossed a 1-hitter for the win. Mackenzie Dunn broke up the no-hit bid with a single in the sixth for Karns City (2-2).

Julia Gibson homered for Butler and Autumn Pettinato had two hits.

Boys Tennis

Seneca Valley got key wins from singles players Jake Yankel and Alex Garczynski to edge Butler, 3-2.
