1:21 a.m. today — Emergency crews used the opioid overdose reversal drug Narcan to revive a suspected overdose victim at his home on East Wayne Street.

Police said Michael E. Karch, 37, after regaining consciousness, admitted that he shot up five bags of heroin. He refused further medical treatment.

Butler Ambulance Service and Butler Fire Department assisted at the scene.

8:43 p.m. Tuesday — Police responded to a drug overdose call at an apartment on East North Street. Officers found the tenant, Shayna Fernandez, 23, who they suspect had taken 23 extra-strength Tylenol pills.

Fernandez was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

12:19 p.m. Monday — Alan M. Chambers, 31, of Butler was arrested on a felony assault charge after he allegedly broke his girlfriend’s finger during a domestic dispute at her apartment in the 300 block of Virginia Avenue.

Police said the victim, Joelle Lees, needed hospital treatment for her injury.

Lees recounted that she and Chambers had gotten into an argument during which she pointed her right index finger at him, and told him to leave her home.

The defendant, documents said, “grabbed her right pointer finger and twisted it to the point that (Lees) fell down on the ground.”

An officer described the woman’s injured finger as being “disfigured” and badly swollen. She could not move it.

Police later arrested Chambers, who was arraigned on a charge of aggravated assault in the case. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.

Saturday — Daniel P. Stepp, 44, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his wife, Elizabeth Hanford Stepp, during a domestic dispute that started after 10:30 p.m. Friday at the couple’s home on South Street.

The alleged victim told police that her husband punched her several times in the head and face, according to court documents. Police said she suffered a swollen left eye and bruising to the eye and left ear.

Stepp was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and later placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 bail.

1:17 p.m. Friday — A repeat shoplifter landed behind bars after police say she tried to steal lemonade, an energy drink and baby socks at the Dollar General store on North Main Street.

Samantha A. Maseroni, 27, of Butler was arrested after she allegedly placed the merchandise, valued at less than $30, in her purse, court documents said. Police said she had three prior shoplifting convictions.

Monday — Sarah Kay Barkley, 28, of Butler was charged with robbery stemming from a shoplifting incident that turned violent last month at the Moraine Pointe Plaza Giant Eagle.

Police said Barkley was caught allegedly taking merchandise about 11:40 a.m. March 1. When a store employee tried to stop her, according to a police report, a struggle ensued.

Because Barkley used force during the crime, police said, she is charged with robbery. And since she has two prior shoplifting arrests, she is charged with a felony count of retail theft. Police also charged her with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said they found Shriver on March 31 at Route 173 and Ralston Road where they were called to check on the welfare of a man seen inside an SUV that was parked there for several hours.

A trooper said the vehicle had a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from it, according to court documents. Shriver told the officer that “he had been having a bad day and sitting (there) smoking marijuana while watching the creek.”
