Butler track cruises to win

Jena Reinheimer won the discus and shot put Thursday as the Butler girls track and field team dominated its home meet with Shaler and Knoch.

Butler defeated Shaler 135-15 and downed Knoch by a 172-18 count. The Golden Tornado (6-0) won all but three individual events and swept the relays.

The Tornado boys also rolled, defeating Knoch 135-15 and Shaler 123-27.

Boys Volleyball

Nash Bryan had 16 kills and Dan Kline six digs, but the Butler boys volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to North Allegheny Thursday night.

The Golden Tornado (4-2, 2-2) lost by the scores of 25-22, 25-16, 25-0. Butler hosts Fox Chapel on Tuesday.

Girls Lacrosse

Chrissy Conklin and Hannah Bowman scored two goals each, but Freeport dropped a 16-5 decision to Fox Chapel Thursday night.

Cameron Lindsay also scored for the Yellowjackets. Cassie Suran had 14 saves in goal.

Plum 7, Knoch 6 — Taylor Carr scored four goals Wednesday night, but Knoch dropped a 7-6 decision to Plum.

Boys Lacrosse

Garrett Schaffhauser scored three goals in Freeport’s 13-6 loss to Hampton.

Chris O’Shell, Evan Schaffhauser and Sean Fennel each added a goal for the Yellowjackets. Brennon Riley had two assists and Noah Freeman made 10 saves.

Postponement

Karns City’s scheduled baseball and softball games Saturday at Keystone have been postponed.

No makeup date has been announced.
