Students achieve Provost Scholar status when they complete a minimum of 45 semester hours at IUP and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

GROVE CITY — Student teams from Knoch and Moniteau high schools took first and second places at the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV Business Pitch Contest.

The winners participate in MIU IV’s Entrepreneurship Academy at Butler County Community College.

Knoch students Madison McCall, Brenna Moore and Christina Rossi won first place for FNGRTip.

Knoch student Megan Vettori and Moniteau student Kierra Thiry won second place for DonateYourData.

During the competition, 30 students from high schools in Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties shared their ideas with three judges in two-minute presentations.

JACKSON TWP — Three middle school students from Seneca Valley School District placed first, second and third at the local BASF and the Chemical Education Foundation’s “You Be the Chemist” Challenge.

Zach Garcia won first place. He is an eighth-grader at Seneca Valley Middle School.

Rachel Spear won second place. She is a seventh- grader at Seneca Valley Middle School.

Roy Tilton won third place. He is a sixth-grader at Evans City Middle School.

Zach and Rachel will participate in the state competition.

Teachers Julie Smith and Mike Levere were advisers for the challenge.

“You Be the Chemist” is an interactive contest that encourages students in grades five to eight to explore chemistry concepts and their real-world applications.
