Kimmel shining in shot put, discusMoniteau graduate Maura Kimmel has broken the University of Pennsylvania's outdoor discus record as a freshman on the Quakers' track and field team.Kimmel tossed the discus 156 feet, six inches at the Penn Challenge last weekend.She owns Penn's indoor shot put record at 49 feet, 10 inches, eighth-longest in Ivy League history. Her outdoor shot put of 46 feet, 3.25 inches is third on Penn's all-time list.

The message came four days before the start of the women’s world championship, which players threatened to boycott if significant progress was not made toward an agreement.USA Hockey’s board of directors held a meeting but had not emerged with a resolution as of late Monday night.
