BC3 softball improves to 7-1

Nicole Houk tallied five combined hits, including three doubles and a home run, as the Butler County Community College softball team rolled to a doubleheader sweep of visiting Westmoreland County Community College on Monday by five-inning scores of 13-4 and 14-3.

Kristen Karcher contributed to the Game 1 win with two doubles, two runs and two RBI while Hayle Fox doubled twice, singled, scored twice and drove in one.

Codi Reed struck out four and walked none in five innings to earn the victory.

In Game 2, Codi Reed did the damage with her bat with a pair of doubles, two runs and two RBI. Noel Pfabe and Saydie Moore both had two hits while Alexis Vogan doubled, scored one and drove in one for the Pioneers (7-1).

Jessi Reed was the winning pitcher, striking out six and walking one.

BC3 split a doubleheader with Community College of Allegheny County over the weekend, winning 8-5 and losing 8-2.

Pfabe had four hits in the two games, including two doubles and three RBI.

Jessi Reed got the win in the circle in Game 1, fanning five in seven innings.
