Butler Police8:08 p.m. Friday — Joshua K. Greaves, 34, of Mercer and Tiffany N. Hilliard, 30, of Butler both were arrested after they gave bogus names to police investigating a suspicious vehicle call in the 300 block of West Wayne Street.Officers found the suspects there after a caller told authorities they believed people were doing drugs in a car. Greaves gave officers a name that they could not verify, which led to a pat down search.Police said when they found his wallet, Greaves finally gave them his real name, according to court documents. He was arrested and searched more thoroughly. This time, documents said, officers found three stamp bags of suspected heroin in one of his pants pockets.Hilliard also is accused of providing officers with a bogus name.During their investigation, police learned that Greaves was wanted by state parole officials and Hilliard was wanted on bench warrants in Butler and Lawrence counties.Both defendants were arraigned on charges of false identification to law enforcement authorities. Greaves also is charged with possession of a controlled substance.Hilliard and Greaves were placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,500 bail and $2,500 bail, respectively, following arraignment. Hilliard also is being held on her warrants and Greaves for his parole violation.12:24 p.m. Thursday — An eight-time convicted shoplifter was arrested for the same crime after allegedly swiping $4.25 worth of baby food at Friedman’s supermarket on West Brady Street.Police said a store employee saw Stacie A. Tucker, 48, of Butler place the merchandise in her purse.Tucker was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft, and later released on her own recognizance.Thursday — William E. Shaner, 29, was arrested on charges he attacked his mother during a domestic dispute at their home on East Christie Avenue.The alleged victim, Barbara Foster, told police that she was assaulted about 7 p.m. Wednesday but that she was unable to get safely away from her son until the following morning, when she called authorities.She recounted that when she returned home Sunday evening, Shaner was “extremely upset about the amount of loud vehicles that drove past their residence,” according to court documents.The defendant is accused of yelling at his mother and punching her several times in the right arm and right leg. He also allegedly grabbed her by the neck and strangled her. Foster had bruises on the back of her arm. Police noted that her leg was also starting to bruise.Shaner was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail.

Butler Twp PoliceMonday — Police reported they charged a 15-year-old student in Butler County juvenile court with attempting to sell prescription pills to another student Feb. 1 at Butler Senior High School.The suspect, who police did not identify, faces a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Grove City Police4:47 p.m. Saturday — An unidentified vehicle struck a sport utility vehicle at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post home on Blair Street. The SUV sustained damage to its passenger’s side.Anyone with information about the hit-and-run crash is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.3:19 p.m. Saturday — A domestic dispute between a mother and daughter at a home on Enclave Drive ended with Felecia C. Maxwell, 46, being charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor. A police report provided no other information.Friday — Patricka A. Berkman, 22, of Grove City was caught with suspected marijuana and other contraband in the borough. She is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Slippery Rock Police7:48 p.m. March 17 — Sara J. Travis, 51, of Slippery Rock was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted five quarts of motor oil from the Dollar General store on Franklin Street. The oil was valued at $14.58.Travis, who has at least two prior convictions for shoplifting, was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft and later released on her own recognizance.

State Police, New Castle1 p.m. Sunday — One person was killed and three others were hurt in a one-vehicle wreck in Washington Township, Lawrence County. Cleophus Jackson, 33, of New Castle, one of three passengers in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.Police said the driver, Charity Jackson, 37, of New Castle lost control of her car on Route 208, struck an embankment and became airborne. The vehicle ended on its roof in a yard.Charity Jackson and rear passenger, Austin Elmore, 36, of New Castle, were partially ejected from the vehicle. Both suffered moderate to serious injuries. Joshua Jackson, 5, of New Castle, who also was in the back seat, suffered minor injuries.All those injured were taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, OhioPolice said they continue to investigate the crash.
