2 vehicles collide; pickup totaled

JACKSON TWP — Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Route 19 and Little Creek Road Monday afternoon.

Township police Chief Terry Seilhamer said a northbound Ford 350 driven by George Warwa II, 36, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, and a southbound Dodge Caravan driven by Frances Pratt, 87, of Hadley in Mercer County collided on Route 19.

Seilhamer said the pickup was attempting to turn left onto Little Creek Road when the collision occurred.

“It was more or less head-on,” said Harmony Fire District Rob Reeb.

Reeb said Pratt complained of neck pain, so she was taken by Harmony Ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

“She was coherent and talking,” Reeb said.

He said Warwa did not report any injuries, but his pickup was totaled due to heavy equipment inside damaging the truck.

Seilhamer said the cause of the accident, which was reported at 5:18 p.m., still is under investigation.

He pointed out the intersection lacks a traffic signal.

“It’s a busy intersection,” Seilhamer said. “There are plans for a traffic light there.”

However, he said there are no obstructions to the line of sight.

“It’s wide open,” Seilhamer said.
