The Butler County Community College softball team's bats dominated a doubleheader at the Community College of Beaver County Thursday afternoon.

The Pioneers scored a combined 28 runs in posting five-inning wins of 10-1 and 18-1.

In the first game, Nicole Houk singled three times and drove in one run. Alexis Vogan added two singles, two runs and one RBI.

The offense came in support of winning pitcher Jessi Reed, who struck out seven in the victory.

Houk clubbed two home runs and added two doubles and a single in Game 2.

Vogan tripled twice and doubled, Noel Pfabe doubled three times and tripled once and Taylor Downs singled twice and doubled.

Codi Reed struck out five to earn the win in the circle for the Pioneers (4-0).

Slippery Rock University opened PSAC-West play with a doubleheader sweep of Clarion by scores of 4-3 and 13-4 at Kelly Automotive Park.

Seneca Valley graduate Carson Kessler was one of six Rock batters to tally multiple hits in the second game rout. Kessler singled twice, scored twice and drove in two runs.

Luca Fuscardo paced SRU's bats with four hits, three runs and two RBI.

Preston Falascino got the win with his five-inning start. Butler High graduate Wyatt Daugherty struck out two and allowed no hits or runs in two innings of relief.

Junior catcher Tyler Walters went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one batted in during the first game.

Christian Porterfield's single to left in the top of the ninth inning plated Matt Mandes with the eventual winning run. Porterfield finished the game with a single, double and a pair of RBI.

Senior reliever Josh Coleman earned the win by pitching three scoreless innings.

Junior Alex Pantuso started on the mound for SRU and worked six innings. He allowed three runs on three hits while striking out 10 and walking four.
