Butler Police7:26 p.m. Tuesday — Christian R. Nawrocki Jr., 39, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his sister, Haley Dunbar, during a domestic dispute at his home on Third Street.The siblings were arguing over Dunbar’s missing bank card, according to court documents, when Nawrocki grabbed her by the throat and pushed her back into a vanity. The alleged victim had a minor injury that police described as a red scrape mark on her back.The suspect was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and released on his own recognizance.

Butler Twp Police2:21 p.m. Sunday — Kevin M. Buzard, 31, of Ellwood City was found with suspected marijuana and contraband following a traffic stop on Fairground Hill Road. Police said they pulled over Buzard for having an expired inspection sticker.Police said they smelled marijuana coming from the suspect’s car. Buzard subsequently handed over a baggie of marijuana, according to court documents, and told the officer, “This is for personal use.”He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.1:24 p.m. Sunday — Kristin M. Baker, 41, of Butler was caught with suspected drug contraband after police stopped her vehicle on Arbor Street for having an expired inspection sticker and a turning violation.Police said a search of the vehicle turned up two crack pipes, six Chore Boy filters and two syringes. In Baker’s purse, court documents said, was an opened bottle of vodka.Baker is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving a vehicle without valid inspection, not using turn signals and driving with an open container of alcohol.

Grove City PoliceWednesday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for a Georgia woman accused of cashing several forged checks belonging to a 68-year-old Grove City man. The suspect, Janine R. Brown, 33, of Jackson, cashed the checks March 16 and 17 at the Grove City Credit Union.Brown is charged with two felony counts of forgery and two misdemeanor counts each of receiving stolen property and theft by deception.

Butler County DetectivesWednesday — Matthew G. Hibbard, 21, was charged with having a used hypodermic needle and five stamp bags of suspected heroin during a home compliance check last week in Center Township.A probation officer on Friday went to Hibbard’s house on Nickel Lane, where he initially tried to run away but then stopped, according to court documents.In a vehicle at the home, the officer also found a duffel bag belonging to the defendant. In the bag, documents said, was suspected marijuana, a marijuana grinder and marijuana pipe.Hibbard is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

State Police, ButlerMonday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Gerald A. Ropert, 40, of Jefferson Township on charges he illegally tried to buy a 9 mm pistol last year at Sportsman’s Supply in Summit Township.Ropert allegedly lied on the federal application Sept. 29 to buy the handgun, according to court documents.The Pennsylvania Instant Check system, an automated system by which gun dealers can determine if someone can legally buy a gun in the state, denied the purchase.Ropert is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor.Monday — Police charged Donald E. Mansberger, 23, of Emlenton with pilfering assorted metal items last year from a home in the 2300 block of Kittanning Pike in Parker Township.Police said Mansberger on Sept. 19 took 30 feet of overhead wire, a table saw fence, fire ring, log stacker and ski pole belonging to Thomas Callender. The suspect later sold the items, valued at $210, at Keene Scrap Metal in Parker, court documents said.Mansberger is charged with misdemeanor counts of theft and receiving stolen property.Monday — David J. Meals, 43, of Center Township was charged with being nearly three times the legal limit for alcohol following a Jan. 15 traffic stop in Butler Township.Police said they stopped Meals’ car about 1:20 a.m. on Mercer Road at Dubbs Lane after they saw it cross the center double yellow line two different times.The suspect reeked of alcohol, according to court documents, and he appeared impaired. When asked how much he had to drink, police said, Meals replied, “Enough to be arrested.”He was eventually arrested after failing field sobriety tests. A breath test later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.236 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.Monday — Kiera J. Morgan, 21, of Franklin, Venango County and Kayla M. Fink, 23, of Clarion, Pa., were nabbed on charges they used a stroller to hide children’s clothing during a shoplifting incident March 14 at the Boscov’s store at Clearview Mall in Center Township.Store employees stopped the suspects and found the merchandise, valued at $313.94, court documents said.Morgan and Fink are both charged with retail theft and conspiracy.Monday — Jeffrey B. Myers, 22, of Butler Township was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic mishap March 9 in Clay Township. He told police that he was helping pull a friend’s vehicle out of a ditch on Route 8 when his own vehicle got stuck.Myers, who smelled of alcohol, appeared impaired, court documents said. He was subsequently arrested and taken for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.144 percent.In addition to DUI, he is charged with disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.Monday — Police charged Jonathan R. Smith, 27, of Butler with having a marijuana cigarette hidden in one of his socks during a 2015 traffic stop in Butler.Smith was a passenger in the vehicle that was stopped on Route 8 at the Picklegate Crossing on June 8, 2015. He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.1:42 p.m. March 14 — Tuesday L. Seippel, 42, of Franklin, Venango County was caught allegedly shoplifting $1,300 worth of women’s clothing at the Boscov’s store at Clearview Mall in Center Township.Police said surveillance footage captured Seippel place 28 items in a shopping cart and then enter the fitting room. When she left the room, according to court documents, the merchandise was hidden in a white plastic shopping bag in the cart.Store employees approached the suspect but she abandoned the cart and fled. Seippel was later identified and charged with misdemeanor retail theft.

State Police, New Castle4:29 p.m. Tuesday — Brandon J. Samuels, 23, of New Castle was arrested on charges he broke into a Slippery Rock Township home during a domestic dispute. He is accused of assaulting a 21-year-old woman at the home on Lucas Lane.Samuels was arraigned on charges of burglary, trespass, simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment. He is free on $2,000 bail.
