Marshals seek shooting suspect

The U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force is leading the hunt for a teenager accused of gunning down a man inside a Butler apartment last week.

David Jabril Franklin, 19, of Brackenridge, Allegheny County, is wanted on a homicide charge in the fatal shooting Thursday in a Wick Street apartment.

His name and other personal information have also been entered into the National Crime Information Center database.

But the suspect’s whereabouts remain unknown, authorities said Tuesday. Butler police acknowledge they have gotten no tips in the manhunt.

Police Detective Lt. Anthony Fatta, the lead investigator, said Franklin is considered “armed and dangerous” and no one should attempt to apprehend him without the help of law enforcement.

The teen is accused of shooting Rashaan Khalil Adams, 20, of Philadelphia twice in the head and once in the chest. Adams died at the scene. Police found his body on the kitchen floor.

Investigators in chargpolice she witnessed the shooting. She identified the shooter as a man she knew only as “Dae Dae,” police said.

“Dae Dae” is Franklin’s street name, according to investigators.

Schnur allegedly told police that the defendant, Adams and a 25-year-old man were among a group of people at her house the night before the shooting.

Fatta said there were several people — including Schnur, the suspect and victim — in the apartment when the gunfire erupted about 10 a.m.

He would not reveal the names of the others who were there.

According to a search warrant for the apartment, police said when they got there after the shooting, they removed Schnur, her 16-year-old daughter and two males, who were not identified.

Police seized two cell phones from the apartment during the search.

Franklin was last seen “fleeing (the home) on foot,” Fatta said. He would not say if investigators believe the teenager used a vehicle in his getaway.

Police continue to interview witnesses and anyone with information about the shooting.

Fatta said investigators have received “full cooperation” from all those interviewed to date.

The Pennsylvania State Police Forensic Services Unit was also called to process the crime scene. Fatta said he is awaiting lab reports and analysis from the collected forensic evidence. He declined to elaborate.
