Auto mall coming

Adams OKs pre-owned sales

ADAMS TWP — An upscale pre-owned car dealership will be built on the south side of Route 228 at its intersection at Scharberry Lane, just west of Mars Bank.

The township supervisors at their Monday night meeting gave unanimous approval to developer Chris Kaclik for an auto mall at that location.

Phillip Malitsch of Hanover Engineering, who represented Kaclik, told the supervisors that a right in/right out access to the dealership would be added on Route 228 pending state Department of Transportation approval.

The rear of the dealership could also be accessed via Scharberry Lane.

The auto mall would sell high-end used cars from the new 5,800-square-foot stone and glass building.

No body or mechanical work will be done at the auto mall. Detailing the cars would be the only work done in the single-bay garage at the facility, Malitsch said.

No tractor-trailers will be bringing cars to the facility, he said.

Some of the supervisors expressed concern that the facility would not remain a high-end dealership.

“We have a few places in our township that started one way and ended up another way,” said Supervisor Russ Ford.

Kaclik assured the supervisors that would not be the case.

“They’re putting $2.5 million into the building. It’s going to be a beautiful building,” Kaclik said. “They’re not going to sell junk cars.”

Supervisors Vice President Tom Franceschina said the planning commission worked on the plan for two to three months.

“We’ve been trying to get some commercial (uses) in here,” Franceschina said.

The supervisors voted unanimously to give final approval for the auto mall.
