Butler Police3:30 a.m. Saturday — George E. Smith, 30, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Elizabeth Rodriquez, during a domestic dispute at his home on the 300 block of North McKean Street.Smith is accused of pushing Rodriquez into the wall, causing her to fall. When she got up, according to court documents, he placed her in a choke hold. She suffered bruises on her right tricep, forearms, both wrists and lower lip. She also injured her left knee.The defendant was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.2:43 a.m. Friday — Shannon M. Kuzma, 24, was arrested after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend while he was holding their 2-year-old son during a domestic dispute at their home on the 400 block of Pillow Street.Police said Kuzma chased down Alias Solo and punched him in the face after he grabbed the boy and went outside to go to the store. Solo told police that the defendant grabbed the boy back and “stormed back into their (home),” according to court documents.Later, Kuzma is accused of throwing and breaking items in the house. Police said that at one point, the child in his bare feet nearly walked on broken glass as the defendant was too intoxicated to stop him.Solo suffered minor swelling to the left side of his face and a bloody left eye, documents said.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Kuzma on charges of child endangerment and simple assault. She was placed in Butler County Prison on $2,000 bail following arraignment.10:01 p.m. Thursday — Three-time convicted shoplifter Glenn B. Bartmas, 30, of Butler Township was arrested after he was caught allegedly committing the same crime at the Dollar General store on North Main Street.Police said Bartmas, who had a backpack, left the store after taking several DVDs, clothing and toys. He was captured on store surveillance video, according to court documents.An officer arrested him on East Wayne Street near Main Street. In the suspect’s backpack, police said, was the stolen merchandise, valued at $83.11.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Bartmas on a felony count of retail theft. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail following arraignment.

Grove City PoliceMonday — Police reported they charged a 16-year-old boy with giving a family member’s bank card to an accomplice to buy alcohol Dec. 18.The boy, who police did not identify, is charged in Mercer County juvenile court with conspiracy to commit access device fraud and underage drinking.A police report did not identify the accomplice or say if charges were filed against the accomplice.6:20 p.m. Sunday — Jeremiah D. Ryhal, 22, of Grove City was arrested on a bench warrant after he was seen walking along South Center Street near College Avenue. He was placed in Mercer County Jail.

Penn Twp PoliceWednesday — John A. Nagg, 74, of Penn Township was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop last month on Powell Road.Police said they pulled over Nagg about 6:15 p.m. Jan. 14 after an officer noticed his pickup truck travel into the opposing lane. Nagg had a strong smell of alcohol and appeared to be impaired, according to court documents.Because of his suspected intoxicated condition, police did not have the defendant perform any field sobriety tests. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.182 percent, documents said, or more than twice the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.In addition to driving under the influence, Nagg is charged with driving on the wrong side of the road.

State Police, Butler11:24 p.m. Sunday — One man was hurt when a sport utility vehicle he was riding in struck a utility pole along Bonniebrook Road near Great Belt Road in Jefferson Township.An accident report was not immediately available and the names of the driver and passenger were not known.The passenger, believed to be in his mid-20s, complained of back pain and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, said Chief Chris Ballina of the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company.The crash caused the SUV to overturn and brought down power lines, emergency crews said. Speed was a suspected factor in the wreck, which closed the road for at least one hour.9:01 p.m. Friday — Robert J. Karenbauer, 54, of Summit Township was arrested for drunken driving after his car broke down on Route 38 near Chelden Lane in Concord Township.Police found the suspect and his car on the side of the road and stopped to see if he needed help. A tow truck also was there.While speaking to Karenbauer, police smelled a “heavy odor” of alcohol on his breath, according to court documents. He also appeared intoxicated.A breath test subsequently showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.263 percent, documents said, or more than triple the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Karenbauer on charges of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license-DUI related and driving without a license. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.12:30 a.m. Friday — Tracy L. Voss, 50, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted 45-year-old Tammy V. Rice during a domestic dispute at his home on the 300 block of Reibold Road in Forward Township.Rice told police that Voss punched her in the face and choked her for about 30 seconds, according to court documents. He subsequently threw her to the ground and threw a mirror, which hit her back.Police said the victim had a bruised and swollen left eye and two small scratch marks on the side of her back. Her lips also had dried blood on them.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Voss on charges of simple assault and harassment, and later remanded him to Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.Feb. 21 — Police obtained a felony arrest warrant for Claude T. Taylor III, 22, of Butler in connection with a suspected 2015 drug deal at Chestnut and Race streets in Butler.Taylor is accused of selling an unspecified number of stamp bags of heroin to a police informant in exchange for $150, according to court documents. The alleged deal, which was set up by phone, happened April 2, 2015, according to court documents.Taylor is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
