Butler solicitor says assistant school superintendent will resign

BUTLER TWP — Dr. Mary Wolf will resign tonight as assistant superintendent for elementary education of Butler School District, the Eagle has learned.

School district solicitor Tom King said a separation agreement will require Wolf to irrevocably resign and use accrued sick leave and vacation days to keep herself on the district payroll through the end of the school year.

“But she’s gone effectively now,” King said.

King offered no reason for her leaving and a phone message left at Wolf’s office was not returned.

Her resignation follows departures earlier this month by Butler Superintendent Dr. Dale Lumley and maintenance supervisor Glenn Terwilliger after the revelation that tests showing lead in the water at Summit Township Elementary School were ignored by school officials for nearly four months.

Wolf, a 25-year veteran educator, has been assistant superintendent since May 2014. Before that, she was an elementary principal in Clarion County and a curriculum specialist for instructional services at Riverview Intermediate Unit 6.
