Kody A. Sarnese

Kody A. Sarnese, 30, of Portersville lost his battle Wednesday with drug addiction that tormented him for many years.

Kody was born Feb. 20, 1987, in Grove City. He was the son of Bob Sarnese and Teresa McGowan.

He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Prospect and had been employed by various companies in the area.

Kody was a skilled artist and talented poet who drew wonderful wildlife art and wrote many meaningful poems. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, trapping and hunting. He enjoyed singing and the company of his dog, Brutus.

He is survived by his father, Bob Sarnese of Prospect; his mother, Teresa McGowan and her companion, Tom Sommers, of Portersville; two brothers, Kristopher Sarnese of Portersville and Jakob Sarnese of Prospect; his paternal grandmother, Jeanne Sarnese of Prospect; his maternal grandmother, JoAnn Hetrick McGowan Taylor of Portersville; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

Kody was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert “Bob” Sarnese Sr.; his maternal grandfather, Richard “Dick” McGowan; one aunt; and one uncle.

SARNESE — A memorial service for Kody A. Sarnese, who died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 143 Church St., Prospect, with the Rev. Gary Brown, church pastor, officiating. A time of fellowship and lunch will follow at the church.In Kody's memory, parents are encouraged to give their child a hug and to discuss the topic of addiction.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora.Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
