Butler PoliceTuesday — Police charged Patrick L. Duncan, 36, no known address, with cashing three forged checks last month at city stores.The checks were taken in a Jan. 21 burglary at a home in Butler Township. The owner did not put a stop on the checks before they were cashed, police said.Surveillance video showed Duncan cashing one check each at the Island Tobacco shop on Pillow Street and Laziza’s Market on East Brady Street, according to court documents.Those checks and one other, which was cashed at the Marathon gas station on South Main Street, were all made payable to Duncan. The checks were cashed for a combined $1,076.92.Duncan is charged with forgery, a felony, and misdemeanor theft.

Butler Twp PoliceThursday — Shiela M. Carmichael, 33, of Benwood, W.Va., was arrested after she allegedly stole $359 worth of prescription pills while working for a company taking inventory of the CVS pharmacy at Butler Commons.Carmichael was arraigned on a felony charge of acquisition of a controlled substance by fraud, a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance and a summary charge of retail theft. She was released on her own recognizance following arraignment.Thursday — Chelsea M. Whitney, 51, of Butler was charged with retail theft stemming from a shoplifting incident Feb. 8 at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. She is accused of failing to pay for $168.25 worth of grocery items. Whitney is charged with retail theft.12:52 p.m. Sunday — Matthew A. Rizzo, 57, of Butler was caught allegedly pushing a shopping cart full of merchandise, valued at $464, out the door at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. He is charged with retail theft.

Grove City PoliceJan. 30 — Police charged Ronda S. Jones, 49, of Grove City in connection with a shoplifting incident Jan. 8 at the Country Fair store on West Main Street. Jones is charged with retail theft.

Butler County Sheriff’s OfficeFeb. 16 — Richard J. Ealy, 25, of Butler allegedly disrupted a Butler County courtroom where he was having a hearing on other charges. He was “yelling loudly,” according to court documents, after being told to stop.Deputies noted that Ealy’s unruly behavior was in the presence of a woman and two young children. He was cited for disorderly conduct.

State Police, Butler12:45 p.m. Thursday — Shane M. Bates, 25, of Center Township was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 422 at the East Jefferson Street exit in Summit Township.Police said they also found suspected drug paraphernalia in Bates’ car. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on a warrant.Tuesday — Nathan R. Huber, 26, of Oakland Township was arrested on charges he used his mother’s bank debit card Sunday to make several unauthorized transactions totaling $533.13.Police later spoke to Huber, who admitted wrongdoing, according to court documents. District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned the defendant on a felony charge of access device fraud. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.Feb. 17 — Police obtained arrest warrants for a couple accused of forcing their way in a house in Franklin Township last month. The suspects apparently knew the victim who lives at the home on West Old Route 422, and they stayed there Jan. 26 until he provided them a ride to Butler.Alicia R. Peters, 25, of Butler and her boyfriend, Jonathan J. Dillingham, 24, who is homeless, are both charged with felony trespass and criminal mischief. Peters also is charged with felony drug possession as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.The owner of the house, the next morning, turned over a backpack that Peters had left there, according to court documents. A search of the back pack contained 33.6 grams of marijuana that was inside a Mason jar.Feb. 16 — Police charged a Jefferson County man with being more than three times over the legal limit for alcohol stemming from a traffic stop Jan. 12 in Slippery Rock Township.Anthony R. Blakley, 22, of Sykesville was stopped after he ran a stop sign at Harmony Road and Route 108. Police said they smelled a “strong odor” of alcohol on his breath.Due to his intoxicated state, according to court documents, he was unable to perform field sobriety tests.A breath test subsequently showed Blakley’s blood-alcohol level was 0.248 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.He is charged with driving under the influence, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and a stop sign violation.

State Police, Clarion1:53 p.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Thomas R. Hannold Jr., 45, of Clarion and a pickup truck driven by Thomas Newbill, 49, of Emlenton collided at Route 66 and Shamrock Drive in Pine Township.Police cited Hannold for driving with a suspended license, driving without a license and disregarding traffic lanes.Feb. 17 — Two jars containing a combined $60 in coins were stolen in a burglary at a home on District Road in Fairview Township, Mercer County. A police report did not indicate if there are any suspects.

State Police, Kittanning6:46 p.m. Wednesday — Robert W. Wargo, 62, of Sarver was arrested for drunken driving after he crashed his vehicle on Route 28 north in Tarentum, Allegheny County.In addition to driving under the influence, Wargo is charged with disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving, reckless driving, littering, driving with an open container of alcohol and not wearing a seat belt.
