County students perform in 'Outsiders'

“The Outsiders” featuring, from left, Dominic Skeele of Slippery Rock as Randy and Cody Nagle of Chicora as Two-Bit, opens Friday at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center.

MIDLAND, Beaver County — When Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center presents the coming-of-age stage version of iconic book “The Outsiders,” two Butler County youths will be featured.

Cody Nagle of Chicora has been cast as Two-Bit and Dominic Skeele of Slippery Rock as Randy.

The novel by S. E. Hinton was published in 1967 when Hinton was only 17. The book was widely credited with expanding the scope of young adult fiction and would go on to sell millions of copies, inspiring the 1983 film of the same title.

The tale of switchblades and gang fights was influenced by the author’s real-life experiences. The story details a town split between the wealthy Socs and the less fortunate Greasers.

Performances that open Friday and run through March 5 in the performing arts center’s Black Box Theater are mostly sold out. But Lincoln Park has added a show at 2 p.m. March 4.

Tickets are $15 and $20 and available by calling 724-576-4644 or visiting www.LincolnParkArts.org.
