Butler PoliceMonday — Justin E. Hartzell, 37, was arrested on charges he grabbed his 8-year-old son and dragged him across the floor during a suspected weekend assault at his home on the 400 block of West Brady Street.Police learned of the suspected assault just before 3 p.m. Sunday when they got a call from the ACMH emergency room in East Franklin Township where the boy’s mother had taken the victim, according to court documents.The boy and his 12-year-old brother, who are children of the defendant, were at his father’s house Saturday. While there, the younger boy and Hartzell were playing video games about 6 p.m. when the defendant got angry.He is accused of grabbing the boy by the right leg and dragging him across the room, causing bruising to the right knee and shin, documents said.Hartzell was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in Butler County Prison on $3,00 bail.

Butler Twp PoliceTuesday — Police charged two people, one a youth, in connection with the theft of property last fall from a home on Crevar Drive.The victim told police that Amanda T. Raitano, 21, of Cranberry Township was hired Nov. 9 as a baby sitter. Raitano brought a 16-year-old Harmony girl to assist her. Police suspect that while there the teenager stole $85 worth of property.The girl is charged with theft and receiving stolen property. Raitano is charged with receiving stolen property.Tuesday — Bradley J. Harriett, 43, of Butler was charged with the Feb. 5 theft of numerous items taken from a vehicle parked on Arbor Street. He also damaged the vehicle’s dashboard and other components in the engine compartment.Harriett is charged with theft from a vehicle and criminal mischief.2:36 a.m. Saturday — Crystal R. Pakutz, 24, of Butler was caught making a disturbance in the Eat ’n Park restaurant on New Castle Road. Police cited her for disorderly conduct, harassment, public drunkenness and criminal mischief.Pakutz’s boyfriend, Justin C. Holland, 28, of Philadelphia was cited for harassment.

State Police, Butler12:36 a.m. Tuesday — Sheri Brahler, 45, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance at Route 8 and Mahood Road in Center Township. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.Police said charges are pending toxicology results.Feb. 14 — Police charged Nathaniel J. Baxter, 25, of Mars in connection with the nearly three-year-old theft of a video game system and other items from a home in Brady Township.The investigation dates back to March 2014 when the victim reported that someone had broken into her house on Marigold Lane and stolen an Xbox 360 video console, controllers and games. The property was valued at $1,219.The owner suspected her niece, Lindsay N. Maples, 28, whose last known address was Clay Township, according to court documents. She told investigators that Maples had a key to her home and had “drug and money problems,” police said.Police in July 2016 spoke to Maples, who allegedly admitted taking the items and giving them to Baxter, a friend, documents said. She advised troopers that Baxter, too, had drug problems.On Sept. 28, investigators interviewed Baxter, who “related that he used to get rid of items for Maples,” according to a police affidavit.He acknowledged he took the stolen gaming system and other items from Maples. Police said he also admitted that he suspected the property was stolen but kept it at his then home in Butler for up to three days before making Maples take it back.Police charged Baxter with receiving stolen property.Maples, who is charged with burglary and theft, waived her case to court Feb. 15 at the office of District Judge William O’Donnell in Slippery Rock.

State Police, MercerTuesday — Charles J. Airgood III, 26, of Sandy Lake was arrested on charges he had inappropriately touched a 13-year-old girl in 2013 at a home on Sandy Lake Polk Road in Sandy Lake Township. Police said he admitted to wrongdoing.Airgood was arraigned on a felony charge of corruption of minors and misdemeanor charges of indecent assault by forcible compulsion and indecent assault with a person under 16 years old.He was placed in Mercer County Jail on $50,000 bail following arraignment.
