Butler Police12:37 p.m. Friday — A pickup truck driven by Michael Halahurich, 66, of Renfrew backed into a fire hydrant on Pillow Street at the Island Tobacco shop. The truck was damaged but the hydrant apparently was not.Feb. 9 — An unknown crook broke into a vacant house on the 400 block of New Castle Street and stole all of the copper pipes in the basement. The break-in happened between Feb. 5 and 9.Police suspect the burglar used a pry bar to force open a back door. The piping, valued at $800, was the only property taken.Owner Mark J. Krenitsky of Connoquenessing told police he had been remodeling the rental home. Damage to the door and frame was estimated at $400.11:41 p.m. Feb. 8 — Francis N. Drew, 21, of Butler lost control of a car in heavy snow and slid into a utility pole at Garfield and Euclid avenues. The top of the pole was snapped in half, causing it to hang partially over the transformer atop the wire.The Butler Fire Department and a West Penn Power crew were called to assist.11:03 a.m. Feb. 8 — A pickup truck driven by Jon J. Malcomb, 41, of Valencia rear-ended another pickup on West New Castle Street at North Washington Street. Police said Malcomb was cited for careless driving. Raquel S. Buhite, 21, of Kittanning was the other driver.

Grove City Police8:54 p.m. Saturday — Jorden E. Dolan, 22, of Mercer was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after being stopped for speeding at West Main and Oak streets.Friday — An unknown hit-and-run driver in a white van struck an unoccupied black Hyundai Santa Fe that was in the parking lot at the Perkins restaurant on West Main Street. The crash happened between 2 and 3 p.m.The suspect is described as an older white woman. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.5:50 p.m. Friday — A Grove City teenager allegedly caused a disturbance when she tried to buy cigarettes at the Marathon gas station on West Main Street, but was refused. The suspect, 19-year-old Sarah K. Bennett, is charged with disorderly conduct.

State Police, Butler8:41 p.m. Monday — No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash on the 400 block of Route 68 in Oakland Township. State police investigated but an accident report was not immediately available. The Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

State Police, ClarionSunday — Police reported they are investigating the vandalism of a trail camera last week in East Brady. The unknown vandal Feb. 12 used a blunt object to smash the camera that was on or near a tree on the victim’s property on Riverview Drive.Police said the investigation will remain open pending the processing of photographs from the camera. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 814-226-1710.
