Missing man found dead

Police suspect drug overdose

NORTH BUFFALO TWP, Armstrong County — The body of a 26-year-old township man, who was missing for more than 10 weeks, was found Saturday afternoon — just 100 yards behind his house.

Authorities do not suspect foul play in Corey Thomas Booth’s death. An autopsy was planned, but the findings were not immediately released.

State police this morning said they are investigating the death as a suspected drug overdose.

Booth was “suffering from depression and drug addiction,” according to Brian Myers, Armstrong County Coroner.

Police on Dec. 31 issued a missing person’s advisory for Booth after family members reported that they had not seen him over the Christmas holiday period or on the third anniversary of his mother’s death Dec. 28.

He was last seen Dec. 7 burning leaves in his front yard on Linford Lane in North Buffalo Township, authorities said.

A search by family and friends turned up Booth’s body about 12:15 p.m. Saturday in woods near his home.

Myers said his office and police continue to investigate the death.

The Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning is handling the funeral arrangements.
