Lawmakers living large

Regarding reports of a deficit in our Pennsylvania budget, when are our state senators and representative going to acknowledge state government is too large and the legacy costs too high? If someone in Harrisburg is not going to decrease the number of representatives, mandate term limits, modify their health insurance, and eliminate retirements, then it falls upon the rest of us to take the issues to them.

I will be writing to all our local representatives, senators, and our governor and encourage everyone to do the same.

Pennsylvania’s overall tax rate puts us in the top 20 percent across the country.

There are some states, like Texas, that have part-time representatives. Most representatives in the country receive a lesser pay than ours, and some states that are larger than ours have fewer representatives. I realize that I am asking them to eliminate their own jobs, but they must be held accountable to be good stewards of our tax dollars.
