Butler Police12:01 a.m. today — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Todd A. Moore, 48, of Butler on a misdemeanor assault charge following a domestic dispute with his 46-year-old girlfriend at her home on Fourth Avenue.The woman told police that she was in her home when Moore showed up. He never got inside, police said, but he allegedly threw a steel mailbox and a small wooden bench through a window.The victim suffered minor injuries when she was apparently struck by the mailbox.Officers went to Moore’s home in the 200 block of East Brady Street but he was either not there or did not answer the door. He is charged with simple assault and criminal mischief.2:52 p.m. Sunday — A five-time convicted shoplifter was arrested for the same crime after he was caught allegedly taking a kitchen gadget and candy at the Kmart store at Pullman Square.Justin R. Manny, 36, of Lyndora was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.Police said a store security employee spotted Manny shoplifting an air fryer and a bag of Twix candy. But when the employee confronted the suspect at the exit door, Manny dropped the merchandise, valued at $103.47, and fled, according to court documents.Surveillance video at the store and at the apartment building where Manny lives helped identify the defendant as the alleged shoplifter. Police noted that he has five prior convictions for retail theft.

Adams Twp PoliceFriday — Julian W. Hood, 32, was arrested on charges he stole a car from a woman with whom he lives on Mars-Valencia Road.The victim told police that on Feb. 2 she loaned Hood her 2000 Subaru Legacy. She said she let the defendant use it on the condition that he return it within two hours. He didn’t, police said.Police on Feb. 7 got a warrant for Hood’s arrest when he still hadn’t returned the vehicle. He turned himself in to authorities on Friday. Butler police eventually recovered the car.Hood was arraigned on a felony count of theft, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.

Butler Twp Police9:05 p.m. Monday — Renee A. Eardley, 52, of Butler was arrested after police were called for a disturbance at her husband’s home on Charles Drive. Police said Eardley resisted officers when they tried to take her into custody for being unruly.She is charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

State Police, Butler2:40 p.m. Tuesday — A Boyers couple was hurt in a one-vehicle wreck in Marion Township. Richard H. Pisor, 70, and Dorothy L. Pisor, 65, were both taken to Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries.Police said the crash happened when Richard Pisor lost control of his minivan on Route 58, just east of Black Road. The van went off the road and struck a tree head-on. Both occupants were wearing seat belts. The vehicle had to be towed.Richard Pisor was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.The Marion Township Volunteer Fie Department and Superior Ambulance assisted at the scene.

Grove City PoliceMonday — Leanna S. Davis, 21, of Grove City was charged with receiving stolen property after items belonging to two Butler residents were found in her room at a home in the 500 block of North Broad Street.Police said Davis also is charged with possession of a controlled substance.

State Police, Kittanning9:35 a.m. Saturday — A 28-year-old Kittanning woman, who police did not identify, suffered an apparent fatal drug overdose in East Franklin Township.Police were called to a home in the 200 block of East Brickyard Road where a friend of the woman found her unresponsive and notified authorities.The woman was reported to have injected heroin, according to a police report. Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers said “a lot” of drug paraphernalia was found near the woman. He declined to identify the contraband.An autopsy was performed but a cause of death is still pending results of toxicology tests, which won’t be available for several weeks.Police continue to investigate but their report noted there were no signs of foul play.

Slippery Rock Police2:48 a.m. Feb. 5 — Morgan J. Means, 22, of Gibsonia was arrested for suspected drunken driving after police stopped his car for having a burned out head light in the 200 block of Elm Street.Means, who had a strong odor of alcohol coming from him and appeared impaired, acknowledged that he had been drinking earlier that night, according to court documents.He failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.12 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Police in their court papers noted that Means was “very respectful, professional and cooperative throughout the entire situation.”He is charged with driving under the influence and a lighting violation.

Slippery Rock University Police3:45 p.m. Feb. 6 — Jacob C. Gambino, 18, of McDonald, Washington County, was caught with suspected marijuana and drug contraband in a wooded area near the Rock Hall parking lot on the Slippery Rock University campus.Police said they were on patrol when they spotted a group of people apparently doing drugs. A search turned up a small amount of marijuana, glass bong and marijuana grinder, court documents said.Gambino “took sole ownership” of the suspected drugs and other items. He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
